Ingredients
  

  • 240 g  2 cups of Plain Flour/all-purpose flour (240g)
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 415 g 1 3/4 cups of milk
  • 113 g 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Start by preheating your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Different waffle irons may require different settings, so be sure to check the manual. Proper preheating ensures that your waffles cook evenly and achieve that delightful crispiness.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Use a whisk to mix these dry ingredients thoroughly. This step is crucial to evenly distribute the leavening agents (baking powder) and sugar, ensuring that your waffles rise beautifully and have a balanced sweetness.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the two large eggs until they are well mixed. Beating the eggs adds structure and fluffiness to the waffle batter.
  • In another bowl, combine the beaten eggs, milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix these wet ingredients until they are well incorporated. The melted butter adds richness and flavour to the waffles, while the vanilla extract imparts a delightful aroma.
  • Now it’s time to bring the wet and dry ingredients together. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and whisk until you have a smooth batter. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. Overmixing can make the waffles tough.
  • To prevent your waffles from sticking to the iron, lightly grease it with a non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of melted butter. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for greasing.
  • Once the waffle iron is preheated and ready, it’s time to cook your waffles. Pour the batter onto the center of the waffle iron, using a ladle or cup to spread it evenly. The amount of batter you use will depend on the size of your waffle iron, so check your appliance’s guidelines.
    Close the waffle iron and cook the waffles according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Most waffle irons have an indicator light that will let you know when the waffles are ready. The typical cooking time is 3-5 minutes, but it can vary. Keep an eye on the waffles, and don’t open the iron prematurely, as this can lead to uneven cooking.
  • When your waffles are golden brown and crispy, carefully remove them from the waffle iron using a spatula. Place them on a plate and serve immediately while they’re hot and delicious. You can top your waffles with your favourite toppings, such as fresh berries, maple syrupLotus Biscoff sauce, or even a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
